Great Location and affordable!
Staying at Islande Hotel in Riga, took a taxi (Baltic Taxi) from Riga International Airport (RIX). Bought the voucher from the Airport AirBaltic booth and costed me Euro 14:50 (flat rate from the airport). September 2nd Tuesday first week of school so little traffic 8:00 am in the morning. it took me around 20 minutes to get to the Hotel.
The hotel looked nice from outside and location wise also perfect for me. Check-in time starts at 2 PM and I am at the counter 6 hours early but the staff at the reception was very nice and kind enough to honor my early check-in request. The rooms were nice with double beds and comfortable mattress, closet, a desk, bathroom was clean and specious. The room has wide open window with wonderful view of old town Riga and the Daugava river specially at night.
The hotel included breakfast in the price which I was undoubtedly excellent, typical eastern European and definitely deserve appreciation. The wide open reception hall has nice sitting area and open bar also the best thing about this hotel is that it got a roof top restaurant with a beautiful view of Old Town Riga at night and that was also one of the key factor for me choosing this hotel.
Hotel location was excellent, Public transportation like bus to Riga city is right there only 4 – 5 mins walking distance, but i also enjoyed crossing the Vansu Bridge over the Daugava river several times while enjoying the magnificent view and be in old town riga in no time (10 – 15 mins. max). Olimpia Mall is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel and they got food court on the top floor with variety of restaurant choices. Also Rimi supermarket is located on the ground floor, from where i did by my local beers, water, fruits and snacks.
Over all I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, everything I needed was right there and conveniently reachable. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and was not that expensive for 3 nights stay.
